Chapter History

Our Phi Upsilon chapter of Delta Delta Delta was colonized here at OSU in the fall of 1962. Our first chapter members formally pledged on January 28, 1963, after all thirty-five of them signed our Charter on November, 15, 1962.

The first meetings and functions of the new Tri Delta chapter were held in various rooms of the Student Union. The Monday night dinners were held there also. Other Greek groups on campus loaned us the use of their houses for special occasions. In January 1963, the Tri Delta's moved to a floor in Hanner Hall. There, the pledge families were organized. Since the number of pledges so greatly outnumbered their members, each member took a family of pledges. The pledge families were very active and they competed for the top. Competition helped make Tri Delta known on campus, as they entered all phases of campus life.

April 8, 1962 brought the first Phi Upsilon initiation, and on April 29, we had our first formal chapter meeting. Most of our present committees, including Officer's Council and Standards, became active for the very first time.

In 1965 during Spring Break, the Tri Delta's moved into their new chapter house!

Our chapter has grown so much since our colonization in 1962. In the past, we have had fraternity sweethearts, Homecoming queens, champion Homecoming decorations, many girls in fraternity auxiliaries, activity boards, first place show performances, pom and cheer squads, campus steering committee members and chairs, many scholarship winners, Top Ten Freshman Women and Top Ten Senior Women. Today, our chapter continues to have women in these positions of leadership, as well as holding membership in the Order of Omega and on the Panhellenic Council.
